Core food, water, weight, recipe, and goal data is stored on your device. The app has no developer-operated user account or full-diary database, uses no advertising SDK, and does not sell your data. If you choose enhanced server reminders in the web app / PWA, only the technical and aggregate data required for reminders is stored. Support emails and website access logs are separate data categories described below.
1. App operator
DailyBalance is operated by VšĮ „Valetudo grupė“. This policy applies to the DailyBalance website, web app / PWA, and Android app with package name app.dailybalance.android. Privacy questions may be sent to support@dailybalance.app.
2. Data stored on your device
The app may store your entered weight, food and water logs, recipes, daily goals, settings, and history in its private on-device storage. A copy of your local diary is not automatically sent to the developer.
The core app has no mandatory user account, cloud synchronization, or advertising tracking. Technical measurement of website visits from YouTube is described in section 4 and does not include diary content. Optional PWA server reminders and sharing that you initiate are also described separately.
3. Camera, photos, and files
Camera access is used only when you choose to scan a barcode or photograph a product label. Label text recognition runs on your device; for this feature, the photo is not sent to the developer or to an artificial-intelligence service.
Import and export features access only files that you select through the Android file picker. If you choose to save an export to cloud storage, your selected storage provider handles it under its own policies.
4. External services
Local food searches in the bundled database do not require the internet. If you choose an online product lookup by barcode, the code is sent to Open Food Facts. That service may receive ordinary technical connection data such as your IP address and request information. Product data is community-provided and should be checked against the product label.
When label text recognition is selected, the app may download files required by Tesseract.js from jsDelivr. Service providers may process technical connection data to deliver and protect their services.
When installing or updating the app through Google Play, that service processes app downloads, updates, compatibility information, and store diagnostics under its own policies. DailyBalance does not send your diary content to Google Play.
Website visits from YouTube
When you arrive from YouTube, the website stores campaign tags and a random pseudonymous browser identifier. It links that browser’s visit, web-app opening, first interaction, and APK download. Diary content is not included in this measurement flow. Clearing the site’s data removes the identifier stored in the browser, but does not by itself delete data already recorded in the server log.
Android and PWA reminders
In the Android edition distributed through Google Play, water and meal reminders are scheduled on the device. Settings and daily totals for this feature are passed to the local Android reminder mechanism, not to the DailyBalance push server. Delivery depends on notification permission and device settings.
In the web app / PWA, you can choose on-device or enhanced server reminders. Server mode sends the DailyBalance server your push-subscription endpoint and technical keys, selected language and time zone, reminder window and frequency, whether water and meal reminders are enabled, today’s aggregate water and calorie totals, and their minimum targets. Food names, individual meals, weight history, recipes, and your full diary are not sent. These data are used to send the reminders you selected.
Sharing with an AI service or another app at your request
If you choose to share your daily review with an AI service or another app, you can first review and edit the text. It may include food, water, weight, profile, and goal data. The text is not sent automatically to an AI service: you initiate sharing and choose the recipient. The Android app uses the system share sheet for this. The recipient handles the data under its own privacy policy. Choosing to copy places the text on your device’s clipboard.
This is separate from label text recognition: the OCR photo is processed on your device, while the review text is shared only through an action you choose.
5. Permissions and purposes
- Camera: to scan barcodes and a product label you choose.
- Internet: to retrieve public product data, download label-recognition resources, and use the other online features described in section 4.
- File picker: for an import, export, or image that you select.
- Notifications and background operation: for the water and meal reminders that you enable. Android on-device reminders depend on system permissions and device settings; PWA reminders also depend on the browser. PWA server mode requires internet access.
6. Sharing, sale, and security
The developer does not sell your personal or health data or use it for advertising. Connections to external services use HTTPS.
Core diary data is stored on your device. External features use the flows described in this policy: product lookup, OCR resource downloads, website campaign measurement, optional PWA server reminders, and sharing that you initiate. Not all of these features apply to every edition of the app.
7. Retention, export, and deletion
DailyBalance does not receive a copy of your local diary and therefore cannot remotely restore or delete it. On Android, you can delete local data by clearing the app’s storage in system settings. In the web app / PWA, you can delete it by clearing the website’s data in your browser. Export a backup first if you wish to keep your entries. Export files you saved separately are not deleted by these actions.
In the web app / PWA, turning off enhanced server reminders removes the push subscription from the server. Subscriptions that have not been refreshed are automatically removed after 90 days. If you uninstall the app before disabling reminders, the subscription is also removed when the push service reports that it has expired.
Website server access-log (access_log) entries at the Vilkas Serveriai hosting provider are retained for 7 days. The log may contain the IP address, request time, requested URL and its parameters, technical browser information, and, for website campaign-measurement requests, the event name and pseudonymous browser identifier. This 7-day period applies to the access log, not to other data categories described in this policy.
Support emails received at support@dailybalance.app and their attachments are retained for 1 month. They are separate from the diary stored in the app.
8. Health information and children
The app is intended for information and self-tracking. It does not provide a diagnosis and is not a substitute for advice from a physician, dietitian, or other qualified professional.
The Google Play app is intended for users aged 16 and over. Minors should use it with a parent or guardian, particularly when making decisions related to nutrition or weight.
9. Data-source licence
Product information is sourced from Open Food Facts. Its database is available under the Open Database License (ODbL), and product images may be subject to a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence.
10. Changes and contact
If app features or data handling change, this policy will be updated and a new date will appear at the top of the page. Send questions to support@dailybalance.app.
